Ironbridge to Severn Park, Bridgnorth

Jackfield Rapids to Bridgnorth Severn Park

Thickly wooded, steep banks, flank the Severn as she passes through Apley Forge, sky borne falcons are overhead and Mayflies fill the summer air. Occasional riffles provide excitement on this popular and delightful paddle between the post-industrial intrigues of the Ironbridge Gorge and the ancient escarpment-top town of Bridgnorth.

Severn Park is laid out on the left hand bank of the river to the upstream side of Low Town, a public slipway gives easy access to the river. Above on a high red, sandstone ridge lies High Town with its Civil War slighted castle ruin, a broad wonderful high street and medieval fortified gate. Bridgnorth is a small but interesting town, with plenty of shops, pubs and eateries to be visited once you’re off the water. There is car parking with toilets available during the day but are closed at night. There is also a height bar on the car park entrance so please bear that in mind when entering the park.
